Growing up in the Pee Dee of South Carolina, I am an alumnus of Winthrop University. During my post college career, I have had the opportunity to hold various positions within the wholesale, retail, marketing, and sales fields. I have represented companies and brands that touch an array of demographics. A few of the companies that I have represented, such as Umbro, RJ Reynolds, and Pratt Industries. As I worked through my career, there was just something missing from what I wanted. I wanted to build my own business, while being in a career that allowed me to follow my passion of helping people.

In 1999, I chose to make what I thought would be my last career change, while building a business that I could call my own. I chose to become an independent insurance agent, representing a single carrier. Over the next 16 years, I poured my heart and soul into being a national top producer serving in various roles of management. During these 16 years, I was being challenged to do more with less, while competing with brokers who had all the tools to provide employers and employees with a complete benefits package. Being an agent with a single carrier, it was taboo to offer competing products even if it was the best solution for the employer and employee. Over time, I found that my relationships with business owners could only take me so far, when it ultimately comes down to choosing the best benefit package for my clients. I was starting to see longtime clients make changes to brokers, who were able to be a one stop shop, with solutions that I was not currently able to offer. After hanging on and being loyal to the company I represented, I was continuing to see benefit brokers come in, and take over relationships/businesses that I had worked so hard to obtain and retain over the past 16 years.

In 2015, Don Kredensor and I chose to form C & K Benefits. This is where the dream of 1999, started to actually come to fruition of owning my own business and to really follow my passion of helping people. Employers and Employees are looking for someone to guide them through the benefits process, while having someone that has their best interest in mind, not a carrier’s. Over the past 5 years, C & K Benefits has grown relationships and appointments with over 30 carriers in various specialties. By having options, I can now be the advisor that my clients need and are looking for to enhance their benefit offerings. As a broker/advisor, my clients know that I am searching for the best products at the best premiums for their employees. This allows the employer to retain their most valuable asset, their employees. I am very passionate about what we at C & K Benefits are able to offer and to not have to walk away from opportunities is another dream come true.
