I live in the Dallas, Texas area but, like Terri Campbell, I’m a native of the Pee Dee Area of South Carolina. After graduating from The Citadel, I went into sales and never looked back. In 1997, I went to work for Liberty Life Insurance in my hometown. Five years later, I realized most of my effort was going into worksite marketing instead of selling individual life policies, so I jumped on board with Aflac in 2002. The opportunity to start a new district in the Dallas, Texas area was offered in 2007, and my wife and I left South Carolina and headed up I 20 to the Lone Star State.

In 2012, I surprised a lot of people by moving to Colonial Life and Accident in 20012, working as an agency development manager and an agency sales representative. In 2016, I became a benefits counselor for Colonial and traveled all over the country as a member of the National Enrollment Team. As a benefits counselor conducting mostly core enrollments, I was shocked to learn how few employees had even a basic knowledge of their benefits options, even though selecting benefits is one of the most important (and expensive) decisions many employees make.

Just before the pandemic hit in 2020, I made the decision to once again build my own book of business and a team dedicated to educating both employers and employees about their benefits. For employers, that means helping them understand their needs, defining their goals, developing an affordable solution, and creating a plan to effectively educate and enroll their employees. For employees, that means helping them understand the available options, how the different plans work, what they cost, and how to make the best choices for their current situation. The possibilities were exciting.

Then, the pandemic hit, and things got put on hold. During the summer, however, I got a call from Terri and Don, who I knew from Aflac. They wanted to expand into Texas and wondered if I would be interested in joining C&K Benefits. What they described was exactly what I had in mind, and they had several products with little or no representation in the state. It was time to get to work!

As a part of C&K Benefits, I’m able to make sure clients always have the right information and the best options to choose from. I’m also able to ensure that employees are well-educated and invested in making choices about their healthcare coverage, whether it’s major medical, life insurance, disability, dental, vision, supplemental, or long-term care.

Most people see insurance agents as salespeople, but I see it differently. I believe our job is to give the right information the right way to the right people. When we do that well, they will make the right decision. C&K Benefits makes that happen.
