Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, I was raised in Baltimore, Maryland. I am an alumnus of Clemson University. My Saturday’s in the Fall are spent in Clemson supporting the Tiger’s football team with my wife Julie, daughter Caroline, and son Ben. After graduation, I spent the early part of my career working in the Electrical Engineering industry and then moving into management and then sales. I lived in Atlanta, Tampa, and then Boston. Throughout this time, I always had a vision of owning my own business.

In 2003, I elected to make a career change. I followed my passion for a more diverse career, as an insurance agent, which brought our family back to South Carolina. Over the next 12 years, I served as a field agent, then was promoted to a management roll. During this time of representing a single carrier model, I began to see businesses choose to work with brokers who could bring more options and offerings to their clients. While working with a single carrier was somewhat simple, I was losing clients due to the lack of diversity in my portfolio of products. I found that the relationships that I had built with my clients was not enough to sustain the ever-changing benefits landscape.

In 2015, Terri Campbell and I chose to form C & K Benefits. I had watched brokers with more options and offerings take over companies that I had worked with for a number of years. Today more than ever, employers and employees are looking for someone to guide them through the benefits process, while having someone that has their best interest in mind, not a carrier’s. Over the past 5 years, C & K Benefits has grown relationships and appointments with over 30 carriers in various specialties. Not having to walk away from opportunities has been so refreshing. Having options, I can now be the advisor that my clients need and are looking for to enhance their benefit offerings. As a broker/advisor, I am constantly reviewing each opportunity to find the best products and solutions for their specific needs. This allows the employer to retain their most valuable asset, their employees. C & K Benefits is a full-service brokerage, that can assist employers or employees with benefits from hire to retire. Employers are looking to their brokers/advisors more than ever today, to find solutions to their benefit offerings. Navigating the complexities of what is best for each individual opportunity, is something that allows me to be the expert that my clients are looking for to take the pain out of shopping for benefits.
